  • Q.  How do you print bar codes?
    A.  EzPOS is written to print bar codes to the Cognitive Solutions "Blaster" bar code printer.  Currently the software supports three label sizes: 2.25" x 1.00", 1.1" x 1.0", and Ring Tag labels. To print bar codes go to the Inventory pulldown on the Main Menu and select the Labels menuitem. Select the type of label from the selections menu in the upperleft corner of the form. Enter an Item Number and Quantity for the label(s) to print and click the Print button.
    Q.  How does the cash drawer pop open?
    A.  The cash drawer has a RJ11 (looks like a telephone plug) cable. This cable is plugged into the back of the receipt printer in the cash drawer port. Upon tendering the customer's payment, the software will automatically "pop" the drawer. You must setup the port configuration in the station file setup from the main menu.
    Q.  Can I buy POS hardware from Systems West?
    A.  Absolutely! The difference in buying hardware from us and buying from someone else are as follows:
    1. We take the hardware out of the box and test it with our software and "burn" it in for 24 hours.
    2. We support only what we sell. So if you ever have a question, please feel free to call us.
    3. We will walk you through, over the phone, to help you install the hardware.
    4. We have a 30 day lemon law on hardware. If something breaks in 30 days, we'll overnight you a replacement.
    Q.  What kind of report printer do you support?
    A.  The good news is that if your printer has a Windows Printer Driver installed on your computer and it is the default Windows Printer, then we'll print to it. Our software has no controls in it to print directly to your printer. EzPOS prints to "Windows" and we let your Windows operating system control your printer. Remember it has to be the default printer as defined in your Windows Printer Settings.
    Q.  What receipt printers does EzPOS support?
    A.  That's an easy one.  The most commonly supported receipt printer are manufactured by Epson and Star Micronics.  Because of their speed, low profile, and quiet printing, we recommend going with a thermal printer. For most computers we recommend using a USB or Parallel port interface.  These printers also have a built-in cash drawer jack, so your cash drawer can be easily connected.
    Q.  Can I buy just the software?
    A.  Yes. But remember it will be your responsibility to install and configure the software on your computer. The general rule of thumb for this type of question is "If you've installed other software on your computer and you felt comfortable doing it, then you won't have any problems with our installation.
    Q.  How much is your Annual Support Agreement?
    A.  Included with your purchase is 30 days (from day of delivery) telephone support on our regular support phone line. After 30 days, single user support is $299/year, 2 to 3 multi users is $399/year, and 4+ multi users is $499/year. This also entitles you to purchase software updates for $5 (shipping & handling).
    Q.  How much does a software update cost?
    A.  If you are on our Annual Software Support Agreement your cost is $5. If you are not on the Support Agreement the fee is $189.
    Q.  What are your phone support hours?
    A.  If you are on our normal Support Agreement the hours are Mon-Fri 7AM-4PM PST. We have available 7/24 support, please call us directly to discuss fees.
